What if my chapter wants to sell merchandise at GCC?

June 7, 2011

Welcome back to Terminology Tuesday! Each Tuesday we will blog about some commonly misused terms within the Fraternity. It’s our hope that you take some time to read, laugh, smile, and then use the information to alter your word choices, and the choices of those around you.

Collegiate chapters, alumni chapters and/or individuals wanting to sell items at GCC must pre-register with the Central Office and pay exhibit fees, which is $25 per product. This fee is per item, not per “category” of items. In other words, if you have two short sleeve shirts each with a different logo, you pay $50 (2 logos X $25= $50). If you have two different logos on two different shirt styles (one short sleeve and one long sleeve), you pay $100 (2 logos X 2 styles = 4 X $25). Raffles are also considered an “item” and require advance approval. Include description and planned sale price. If questionable content or design, seek approval in advance!

Anyone selling merchandise must be fully registered for the Congress or have some other contractual agreement with the Fraternity. Each exhibitor is assigned a table location through a lottery (one table included in the exhibit fee—additional tables are $100).

There are different policies for selling merchandise at LEAD events and GCC. At LEAD events (both LEAD Schools and LEAD Provincials), the Fraternity does not provide any designated sales area or table space for chapter sales and chapters do not pay exhibit fees or pre-register for LEAD event sales.

The GCC Merchandise Sales Licensing form is available for chapters planning to sell items in Louisville. This form must be completed and submitted with payment to the Central Office by June 22. See National Policies and Procedures Section BB for more information.
