Deltasig Achievement Awards

June 21, 2011

Welcome back to Terminology Tuesday! Each Tuesday we will blog about a Fraternity term. It’s our hope that you take some time to read, laugh, smile, and share with others.

Deltasig of the Year was instituted in 1952 and evolved into the Career and Lifetime Achievement Awards in 1990. The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to a brother who exemplifies the spirit of the Fraternity through his or her lifetime of service, support, brotherhood, and involvement. The Career Achievement Award is presented to a brother who has distinguished himself/herself in his chosen field of business, government, or education, and through his/her accomplishments has furthered a higher standard of commercial ethics and culture and the civic and commercial welfare of the community.

Golden Council Member H. Nicholas Windeshausen, Nebraska-Lincoln, is this year’s Lifetime Achievement Honoree. He has served the Fraternity for nearly 60 years and will be recognized at Grand Chapter Congress in August.

Stuart Dorsey, South Dakota, was the 2010 Career Achievement Honoree. Brother Dorsey has distinguished himself within the career world as an economist, author, longtime professor and college administrator. He has also contributed to our Fraternity as a chapter advisor. Read more about Brother Dorsey in the March DELTASIG.

Winners of these awards are honored during a special event; receive a plaque in recognition of his/her accomplishments; and are recognized in The DELTASIG.  See past award recipients on our website.

Nominations are due no later than January 2 (odd-numbered years for Lifetime Achievement and even-numbered years for Career Achievement). The National Scholastic Development and Awards Committee then selects two finalists from the pool of nominees. The Fraternity’s Board of Directors then chooses the recipient, if any, at their spring meeting.
