What is an alumni chapter?

June 28, 2011

Welcome back to Terminology Tuesday! Each Tuesday we will blog about some commonly misused terms within the Fraternity. It’s our hope that you take some time to read, laugh, smile, and then use the information to alter your word choices, and the choices of those around you.

In honor of National Alumni Day next week, one of the easiest ways to stay involved with Delta Sigma Pi is to join an alumni chapter. Alumni Chapters hold social, professional, and service events throughout the year. Not only is it a great way to stay connected to the Fraternity, it is also a great way to network with brothers in your area. See a list of all of our alumni chapters on the Chapter Locator or find them through the Delta Sigma Pi Facebook Application.

To be recognized continuously as an alumni chapter of Delta Sigma Pi, your alumni chapter will need to complete franchising requirements for the upcoming fiscal year between April 1 and June 30. (For example, to be recognized for the July 2011 – June 2012 fiscal year and be eligible to vote at GCC, requirements must be completed between April 1 and June 30, 2011.)

• Submit a roster of at least ten members residing in the locality of the chapter to alumni@dspnet.org This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
• Submit an updated copy of your Chapter Bylaws to alumni@dspnet.org This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
• Submit an Officer Report online
• Submit $25 Franchising Fee and $50 Liability Insurance Premium (either online or by mailing to Central Office)

Chartered chapters are required to franchise annually to remain up-to-date. The deadline to franchise for the upcoming year is June 30.
