Make a Difference– Help Deltasig be a MADD All-Star

February 15, 2012

By: Kris McDaniel, National Community Service Chair

When Make A Difference Day (MADD) is over, and the information has been sent to me, that’s when my fun for the event starts.  Following MADD (fourth Saturday in October), I start working with Central Office staff to pull numbers and run reports—which is why it is so important to enter your MADD event into CMP as soon as possible.

Why do I need this information? Well—after every MADD, organizations get together to judge participation and present awards to participants. This year, I was actively contacting and being contacted by representatives from Points of Light, USA Weekend, and other organizations that are a part of MADD.

And due to all the hard work from our chapters and members over the last decade, I am pleased to announce that this year Delta Sigma Pi is in the running for the All-Star award for our MADD participation.

So what does this mean? It means that we have an article about us in USA Weekend as well as on their website and if we get enough votes, we will win $10,000 for the charity of our choice.

So naturally, the next question is: what will we do with the $10,000? In 2009, when we were first recognized, we split the $10,000 into 5- $2,000 checks, and gave the money to the five Provincial Initiatives: Northeastern–Habitat for Humanity, Southern–Verizon HopeLine, North Central–American Cancer Society, South Central–Ronald McDonald House, and Western–St. Jude. Should we win another $10,000, we hope to do the same.

What can you do to help? Vote online for Delta Sigma Pi every day between February 15 and February 29 and encourage your friends, family, and classmates to do the same! Just 5 minutes each day will help Delta Sigma Pi be even MORE recognized for our outstanding contributions to our universities and communities.

Did you cast your vote today?
