Does Your Chapter Know How to Manage Risk?

March 27, 2012

Welcome back to Terminology Tuesday! Each Tuesday we will blog about some commonly misunderstood terms within the Fraternity. It’s our hope that you will take the time to read and then share this information with others.

Hosting a Risk Management Event is required to achieve CMP’s Chapter of Excellence, but it is essential for all Fraternity members to know and understand Delta Sigma Pi’s Risk Management and Conduct Policy. This type of professional event should address a risk management topic, such as alcohol, drugs, hazing, discrimination or harassment, to help educate all members on the importance and obligation of managing risk. For example, the chapter could have a police officer give a presentation about drugs, a doctor give a presentation about the effects of alcohol, or a lawyer give a presentation about hazing. Please note that presentations given by current collegiate members or presentations solely about Delta Sigma Pi’s Risk Management and Conduct Policy (available in the National Policies and Procedures Manual) do not qualify.

Does your chapter currently plan a professional event based on a risk management topic? If you have questions about how to get started, please contact cmp@dspnet.org.
