New Member Orientation

April 3, 2012

Welcome back to Terminology Tuesday! Each Tuesday we will blog about some commonly misunderstood terms within the Fraternity. It’s our hope that you will take the time to read and then share this information with others.

It is encouraged to hold an orientation for your new members after initiation or at last within 14 days after initiation. The purpose of a new member orientation is to review the important things that all brothers should know and to introduce the new brothers to our ritual. Although some of these items are covered throughout the pledge education process, this orientation is to help reiterate the most important things about our Fraternity. In addition to the Ritual review, it is good to cover Delta Sigma Pi terminology, minimum standards for chapters, and national and chapter structure. A complete guide is available online.

Completing a New Member Orientation gives the chapter CMP credit under Chapter of Recognition when the special event form is submitted through CMP.

What else does your chapter cover during your new member orientation?
