Brothers Supporting Brothers in the Pursuit of Leadership Excellence

June 28, 2012

By James Siegrist, Southern California

In 2009, Demetrius Beasley, Cal State-Long Beach, was seeking advancement within the life safety industry. After proven success at a previous employer, Demetrius was looking to join a leader in life safety and property protection in North America, SimplexGrinnell, a Tyco International Company.

After talking with the company at a career fair, Demetrius continued to identify opportunities with SimplexGrinnel and in a twist of fate, Demetrius’ resume landed on the desk of Ross Larson, Southern California, at SimplexGrinnell.

Ross made a phone call to Demetrius identifying himself as a fellow brother. “Demetrius had all of the qualifications to be a leader here at SimplexGrinnell. We are always looking to bring on the best and brightest business leaders into our industry. Initially I knew that Demetrius was highly qualified and would be a great addition to our team. Once I saw that he identified himself on his resume as a brother, I knew that we had someone who exemplified true leadership and was dedicated to furthering a higher standard of commercial ethics and culture and embracing the core values of SimplexGrinnell and its parent, Tyco International.”

Ross identified an opportunity for Demetrius at an office in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After a trip to the office and a successful interview with the Albuquerque leadership team, Demetrius was offered the position of service general manager which he accepted and has been in since March 2011.

Ross Larson continues to mentor Demetrius, coaching him on driving results while demonstrating the Tyco core values of integrity, excellence, teamwork and accountability. Most of all, Ross has maintained his commitment as a Deltasig, extending brotherhood, and supporting a fellow brother in the pursuit of leadership excellence.

This is an excellent post. More of these kinds of posts should be put together on a regular basis that highlight and celebrate the strong values and principles that the brothers of our organization bring to the table. Great job! Thank you!
